New Neighborhood
Groveland, Florida
2022
Charles assisted with design and was Project Manager on this beautiful urban design project with Geoffrey Mouen, Architect. The design is based upon New Urbanist principles of design, establishing two walkable neighborhoods over forty acres, each neighborhood with a central square, on-street parking, human- scaled buildings with a sense of front and back, sidewalks, street trees, etc. The City of Groveland, interested in moving development toward traditional town planning, embraced the project and supported its direction.
The center of the project hosts a stunning amenity center, perched atop a terrace, overlooking the wetlands with mature live oaks trees. Hilly by nature, the site provides beautiful views of the natural area from the neighborhoods. Cottages and a linear park are located along the edges of the wetlands, further engaging nature with the neighborhoods.
The architecture is traditional in nature, human-scaled, and is comprised of a diversity of housing types, including apartment buildings, townhouses, and cottages.
